Raphael WIP day 3

Another rather busy day today without a lot of time for art, but I did manage a bit of time to spend with Rafael. As you can see, I'm still struggling with the foreshortening and the proportions, but little by little it's beginning to come together. So far I've done all of it with a 2B pencil (and, of course, a kneadable eraser, lol) and when I get it further along, I'll darken some areas. I used the "auto contrast" thingy in Photoshop, which makes it look darker than it really is.
As always, your suggestions and comments are more than welcome!

Excellent likeness!
Boy, this is really good, Nancy. I may get out one of my art books tomorrow and begin a sketch after one of the masters.
I realize by looking at yours that I need to think of art as happening a little at a time instead of thinking I have to sit down and do the whole thing at one time.
I'll share when I have something started.

I have to second Vicki H! I tend to only do work that I can sit and do all at once. Or sometimes, sketch it in one sitting, and paint it in another. The good thing about the way you do it, is that you step back and return with fresh eyes!
It's looking fantastic like I said it would ^^
There is nothing to say about this one except you are doing an excellent job!
You're making progress! Well done!
This is coming along brilliantly!
You're doing really wonderfully with this. Foreshortening is really tough. His left arm, if you take out the little curve at the elbow on the outside of the arm, bring that line down with just a slight little bend to it, I think you will like it better. Otherwise, your shading and proportions look awesome. Keep it going!
you're doing great!!!! Love it!

Sure looks like you did a lot! Very impressive.
Oh, my! This is really wonderful, first the idea of copying the masters, then to choose a subject with such challenging foreshortening--- and to be doing such a great job at it! Major kudos to you!! I'm in the same boat as Vicki and Raena, I seem to think of drawing only in terms of subjects I can finish in the hour or so of spare time I squeeze in. Thank you for the reminder that drawings can get done in bits over time.
See I always tell you how amazing you are and once again you prove me right.
Great Job! You go Girl!

Thanks again Nancy for your comment. It was a little push that I needed from someone to just go ahead sometimes. :) It was fun doing the watercolor no doubt, but my favorite still has to be pencil I guess.
