Well, I got wonderful suggestions from you, and I tried them.  I had already been doing the "upside down" method for the beginning, and I continued to use it as I went along.  I also tried lightly penciling in  his body, and that did help me some.  It isn't shaping up to be a perfect copy (again), but then, I know none of these will be.   The reason I'm doing them is to glean whatever I can from the process.  The other reason I'm doing them is that it's fun .... oh, and one more .... I don't have to come up with an idea of what to draw for awhile, which for me, can be the hardest thing of all to do!

Your work reminds me to draw something (or do something) once, then again, then again...

so often I want to do the bare minimum...then move on. I have been thinking lately of taking some of my past projects, and expading on them...giving them a deeper look...a longer life. Re-creating to find the message.

That is some fantastic pencil-work Nancy! I think you're heading to the right direction there replicating the ones done by the masters, because you're very close if not already there. :) Love it!

Oh wow! This looks really great! I love love love the contrast. It makes it very lively.
It's hard to find something to criticise or advise for this one, really. Maybe his breast is a tiny little bit too close to his face.
I admire you for this. You got the forshortening very well, too! It's just wonderful.

Wow, Nancy -- you are doing great with your own lessons from the masters! I Love that idea. But then again, I'm at a much more beginning level, stick figures actually. You are inspiring me!!

I don't know if you are just learning quickly or if this is somehow more in tune with you than the other pictures but boy, this is fantastic so far.

I too, find it hard to think of something to draw which means I should really get back to the EDM challenges but they sure don't seem to be anything when compared to this.

He is looking good. Maybe a bit narrower than the original, but wow! you are inspiring me.

Thank you so much Nancy for your comment. I am so glad you liked the drawing, and I never thought that people would give a second look on the background... :) it was more of an expressive thing for me...I guess I love the natural curves of flames.
It's great to be back "again" ^^

It's shaping up really well. Congrats on the foreshortening. It's not for the faint hearted.
