Illness and Inchies

I've been a tad under the weather for over a week now, and it's been impossible for me to do any art because of it. I had a medical procedure last Monday, then got bronchitis on Thursday (I like to cluster my ailments - it gets them out of the way faster). I have a few more antibiotics to take and I'm much better now, but I'm waaaay behind in lots of things, not the least of which is making/playing with art. I'm not quite finished with the Rubens drawing, but I just haven't had the wherewithal to keep an appointment with her. Also, I'm so far behind in my email that I think I'm just going to have to start over. I hate missing all the wonderful posts to people's blogs (I've been doing my best to visit them and leave comments, but I'm drowning!), so I think the best thing to do is start fresh and just accept the reality of my current situation.
I've been feeling really guilty about not posting anything on my blog, and as I'm sure all of you know, feeling guilty sucks (to put it less than delicately, but then, guilt isn't a very delicate emotion, is it?). So, since I don't have anything current to show you, I thought I'd post a picture of some inchies I did a while back for an inchie swap. I like making inchies - it's fun to have such a small canvas to work on. I'm thinking of making more with an eye to incorporating them into a larger piece .... a sort of inchie assembly. So, anyhow, these are the ones I made that I rejected for the swap and so kept them. I put them in my art journal

Hi Nancy-hope you will be feeling better soon. We'll all be here when you post something!! I hate it when I get behind on all the new blog art and all the yahoo group emails--but if you miss even one day it can be really overwhelming!! So, I think you are doing the best thing--mark it off and start anew!!
Wonderful Inchies and your Ruben's studies are looking SOOOO good! No guilt allowed. Take care of yourself and feel better soon.
Welcome back, Nancy! Glad to hear that you're getting better. Don't ever feel bad for not posting - it's your blog, not your job. Though I've missed you posting, you taking care of yourself comes first.
You did a beautiful job on the inchies! I can see each of them being turned into patterns if you chose to do that. I especially love the bottom middle one, fantastic shapes and colors!
You are very practical, Nancy, to cluster your ailments together. I hope you feel better soon - what a shame. Don't feel guilty - we'll wait for you.
great designs - beautiful colors.
I love this inchies drawing =) It doesn't really matter whether it's new or old, a piece of art brought out into the lights to be shared is another piece of art shared. And besides, art is timeless.
I do hope you get well soon Nancy. It does sound like a lot of "issues" but I am pretty sure you'll get well real quick. The feeling of guilt conquers all sickness ^^ (does that make any sense? copying Dan Kent)
The inchies look fun to make. I hope you feel better soon.
Lovely inchies Nancy, great colours. (Get lots of rest and don't worry about the world of blogging you can always catch up.)Hope you feel well soon.
Well bummer that you've been under the weather. Hope that the creative inchies have done the trick to help you feel better.
These are the rejects!? I love them...especially that center one, line two. Love those colors!
Sorry to hear you've been sick! Please get well soon! Sending positive thoughts your way!
Get well! Nice inchies in spite of not feeling well!
Glad you managed to "post" something. As you said in your comment on my blog, we do have an "empty" period in common at the moment, but I think that writing friends about it is the first step ...Heads up,Nancy, we'll do it !!! And I love your little Inchies, they look like Spring symbols to me !
These are so sweet and colourful, if you swap these do you send a few on a sheet as in your post?
These remind me of little pieces of material. I hope you feel better soon, no need to feel guilty you'll catch up soon.x
Hey Nancy! So sorry you've been so thoroughly unwell, but very glad to hear you are on the mend. There's so much in life to feel guilty about - not blogging should not be one of them: http://evolutionlondon.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/blogging-without-obligation/
Nice bright inchies!
With each new day, I am sure you are feeling better and betterer! I love the little "inchies" you have done. The color is quite lovely in each of them too. Hoping today has you feeling much more back to normal!
Hi Nancy - I do hope that you are feeling much better now. It is horrible when 'feeling under the weather' makes it difficult to do the things that make us feel better - like painting and drawing!
Love the inchies - I have never tried these so I may just have a go!
I hope you are feeling back on the top of the world soon.
I am always amazed how many posts (both mine and others) you have the time to comment on and appreciate the time it takes you. Thank you.
Hope you feel better soon.
I do hope you feel better soon. This inchie's thing looks like fun! I should start doing some when I get a minute. I've seen work like this in galleries, but each one is pasted down so you're right, it all comes together as a big collage and you want to spend time looking at each one. How to decide which goes where would command a nice latte and a big table before you brought out the glue! I'd do one a day while you're feeling icky!
revelle
Your inchies are terrific.
I hope you feel better soon.
I have also just had to start over with the list as I could never catch up. I was under the weather too. But I am trying not to feel guilty about it. I can only do what I can do and besides guilt is counter-productive. Of course, I have trouble taking my own advice ;-)
Heck yes, cluster those bad days together and get through them as quickly as possible! Do hope you are 100% soon.
Your inchies look great. I've put mine in my journal at times too. It's a great place to keep them.
You are so good at checking everyone's blogs when they give you a heads up they've got something new. I'm sure everyone will understand you need to have a little leeway. This is for enjoyment and encouragement not for self-torture! Take care of yourself first.
i love these patterns! they are so well done! hope you feel better soon!
i like very much your inchies:like the small things because they give you a lot of input 4 drawing in it..
Hope you feel better soon, and hey, no guilt about being sick, ok? That is seriously not ok. You need to take care about yourself, and not worry about someone elses blog (or your own for that matter). Your health comes first, so you can come back and do more art and more posts about your art.
The inchies look like fun, I like all of them very much.
Your inchies are so wonderful!
I hope you didn't catch bronchitis from us :-) and that you are feeling better soon! I know exactly what you mean about being behind on visiting blogs, I am so very behind that I will have to just start over too. It will all work out okay and we will both be back on top of things soon!
I love your little inchies, although I have to admit I have no idea what it means :D Feel free to enlighten me if you wish ;)
Really hope you feel better soon! I am looking forward to see the rest of your Rubens some day (but make sure to rest and get better first!)
hey --love those inchies-I have only created fabric inchies with beadwork etc..going to paint some now! ;-)
Those inchies are lovely - and they look cool all on the same page. Very inspirational!
I hope you're feeling better now (and not guilty - say no to guilt! : ) )
Hi Nancy,
you are one of the blog I tried so many times commenting lately with no luck!
I like your posts and wanted to tell you "dont worry...be happy" like in the song and no guilt, blog when it is good, and we will read you.
I like the link that Sarah gave, blogging with out obligation.
Lovely inchie, have to try them.
I know Im late with the well wishing, but I do hope you are feeling much better now and you are up and about, drawing : )
I love the little inchies, really cute and the two favourites are the once with black/dark backgrounds... remind me of Art Nouveau style.
Beautiful!
I like your point about guilt not being a delicate emotion. So true, so true. Anyway, you have no need to feel guilty about anything- I'm always encouraged by your endlessly positive output. Take some time to relax and feel better (I hope you already have, and do!).
Cool inchies... I've never heard of them before, but they are very sweet and pretty!
I'm sorry you weren't feeling well, but had to laugh at the idea of purposely lumping them together to get them out of the way. Couldn't agree more!
Your inches are pretty cool. Don't worry about "keeping up" with blogs - we all get busy and no one's going anywhere anytime soon. Of course, I saw this to myself everyday since I am short of time as well and often fall behind in either posting to my blog or commenting on other people's blogs. We'll all eventually catch up to each other!
