Another Sargent Portrait

I spent a bit of time today doing another Sargent portrait.  This one was a really quick one (you'll be able to tell that right away by the quality!).  I'm determined to fill this sketchbook up with copies of portraits done by masters .... is Sargent considered a master?  Maybe not, but his work is masterful in my mind, so I guess for my purposes, he is.  As before, the original will be first, followed by my version.

After I did this one, I returned to another old, unfinished sketchbook, grabbed a Newsweek magazine, and started drawing eyes.  I might post them another time, after I've finished the page.

I'm having a devil of a time with my scanner.  We think it's because we installed new software on my computer.  Whatever it is, it's driving me Crazy!!!  I couldn't crop the one I drew, among other things....sigh ... at least I was able to get on here!!

Your hatching lines are very expressive. Sargent was definitely someone to be inspired by!

Good to see you and your lovely sketching. Hope all went well with the doc and that I will see you in the morning.

I am planning to do both Joe's class in the morning and Zumba in the evening. I'm just a glutton for punishment.

These are really good sketches, love the strong and soft lines worked in to one. Great work.

Is this a series that you are working on? If so, I cant wait to see more. Well, series or not, Im looking forward to see more of your work.

In my humble opinion, Sargeant is THE preeminent portrait master for you to emulate!! And you've done him proud!

i understand your frustration with the computer. i got a new one and it has different software then i was using. nothing seems simple anymore.

Sargent was definitely a portrait master! And you did a great job! I thought of you last night as I was copying an image from my Draw Me book while watching Whitechapel on BBC America. Maybe we should send each other (email) copies of portrait challenges by the Masters!

I don't know Sargent so I'm going to look him up on google and learn something! Your version of the portrait is perfect. And good luck in your continued fight with the evil scanner ;)!

Just catching up with your work Nancy, all good but these are my favourites! Love the looseness of the lines
