The Watercolor Version

So,  I really struggled with this one, and it shows.  In the interest of honesty, I'm posting it, though I'm not happy with it.  But, it's OK ..... I jumped in and did it.  My rational self knows quite well that not every painting is going to be successful, but still, that doesn't quell the desire.   I was going to stop midway through (actually, truth be told, I was going to stop before I started), but fortunately common sense prevailed and I just kept going.  There's no need to point out all the problems this painting has ... they're self evident.  Since I had already started it before the great suggestions about using smaller paper were made, I painted it on a 9 x 12 watercolor block.  Maybe my next one will be a tad smaller, looser, and a more relaxed process than this one was.  Thanks again to all of you - I really appreciate all your support and helpful ideas!

Nancy,

So nice to see you painting again. I think this is quite lovely and don't see "the obvious" problems.

I've been missing you on the blog and hope you will continue to slap that critic of yours until she goes away.

This is lovely, Nancy! I like the way all the flowers form a uniform mass and yet each one stands out individually. They blend together well.

I think I must be oblivious or something too.. Can't detect any problems here, and I think it's beautiful! It's great to have you back again. Everybody needs a vacation sometimes right? =)

The important thing is that you did it and it is delicate and lovely. Way to go - now put it aside and paint again - right now - today!

No need to be so hard on yourself about the results Nancy - I think you did really well and I'm impressed by how you pushed through all that resistance - I hope you're given yourself some kind of reward!

You painted. You created. That, alone, is a win.

You inspire me today.

THANK YOU!

It's beautiful Nancy! I think you're too hard on yourself. If you learned something new- it's all worth it. The doing itself is a success. And you done good!

Quite honestly, Nancy, I like this piece. I like the closer crop from the colored pencil version too.

This is lovely - I particularly like the way you have painted the grass and the foliage in the back. You have a way with the greens!

I'd just like to say...ditto what Shirley said! You did it, now do it again. And again. Then one day, you'll start noticing that you're automatically fixing those problems you used to have! Just make sure that you let yourself have fun!

I like parts of this better than the pencil version and I like parts of it over this version. They are both nice and YOU DID IT! I don't usually try something twice.
