DaVinci WIP day 2

What a day!!!  It was sunny and warm (well, warm for the mitten in March), and I got to spend most of the day with 2 friends, one of whom I seldom see because she lives in Florida .... she thought it was really cold here!  We were helping to pack up her mother and dad who have sold their home here in order to stay year round in Florida.  We had a lot of fun, and actually got some things done!

I didn't have much time to devote to art .... between spending time with my (new) treadmill (another really long story about a woman who detests any kind of exercise), settling the dog, feeding the birds, etc, etc,  I didn't do anything on my DaVinci drawing until the dinner dishes were done and the trash barrel was down by the road.  That said, I think I'm calling this one done ...  yes, I know, I don't have the shading just right, but I'm ready to move on to something else.  I'm going to give the Masters a rest from my efforts for now and instead do ........  well, to tell you the truth, I don't know what I'm going to do next.  I'll have to ponder it a bit, I guess.  So, here he is .... old yeller.   Ok, ok,  now that I see him here, I may have to have one more go at him.

Looking good. My only comment is that you are not getting the force of the facial expression. Your profile is too straight up and down while his is on a definite angle. Like he is bending forward. This puts more force in the "scream".

He's looking good, Nancy!

I've gotta thank you for the suggestions about the lamb. The stew was delicious and the ground lamb with onions, garlic, tomato sauce and herbs in pita was also very good.

I have the girls tomorrow - we will be visiting the woman next door whose husband recently died, driving to Stockbridge where the girls will do art while I tutor an Algebra student, driving to Jackson to relieve Papa at the craft show so he can go and get some dinner and then go to their house to settle in until their Mom gets home around 9:30.

Sounds too busy to me, but we are sure to have fun.

Looking forward to the next time we can get together.

xoxo

it's coming real good now! :) It's not 100% similar, it never is anyway but that's the beauty of it... if you keep drawing the from a similar reference, eventually you'd be able to create your own animation with it. I love the progress!

He's looking good and I hope you do do just a little more to it - just to give it that added drama that will come from deeper shading - you are doing so well with this project!

You are getting really good at this!

You've got the nose down perfect! Yes, in the original the head is angled down more, but otherwise, the likeness is there. You're doing great with this. A copy is never going to match the original exactly. But, the lessons you are learning from these exercises will last you a lifetime. Great work!

I've learned over the years to always pay special attention to the eyebrows. They give so much expression to what the subject is feeling. I think you're doing awesome!

You got a very close likeness this time, especially for the first shot! Wonderful job!

Really good start to this one. You have captured the facial expression beautifully.

His expression is awesome and you rendered the flesh greatly (and to me works of that period in time always have this particular emphasis on the flesh, so I'd say you got that perfectly!)
(I have trouble expressing myself in english, tonight, hope that was clear?) Great work, anyway!

You've done a great job here. Go ahead and do something different if you want. All this one needs is darker shading really and you can do that anytime, or not at all. Don't feel you HAVE to do any more. This is for learning and for fun. Don't let it become a chore or you'll fall right back in to not getting any art done one day after another.

This guy is coming along great, Nancy! I know what you mean about wanting to take a break from a project. Sometimes you just get too close to it... one of you starts arguing... and then you have to take a break until you two can get along. Or not. Then, it's "NEXT!!!"
